Full time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary circa £20000 to £25000 per annum, dependent on experience

The very nature of Epilepsy Society’s work means that we have many amazing stories to tell: as Communications Officer it will be your responsibility to tell them in the most compelling way using a suite of mediums including video, print, audio, email and web. You will play a critical role in raising awareness and the profile of the charity which includes our research, clinical expertise, care and information services. You will also help to increase our level of support and subsequently generate income.
You will be responsible for helping to build up a relevant database of case studies and will support the Communications Manager in providing media coverage for Epilepsy Society across all platforms, both locally and nationally. This will include reporting on the activities and achievements of people with epilepsy (and associated conditions) as well as news stories and features relevant to the 500,000 people living with Epilepsy in the UK.
You will be an effective and creative team player, flexible in your approach to your work, and with experience of delivering quality work in a multi channel environment (digital and print). You will have experience of writing and editing magazines/newsletter articles and writing for the web and working with a content management system. You will have a great eye for news and good editorial judgement; a strong eye for detail and accuracy and the ability to work at a wide range of levels. Your excellent communications skills and the ability to explain complex, medical/clinical issues in a simple and straightforward way will complement your research, investigative and analytical skills.
Previous experience of professional copywriting; Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Raisers Edge database is desirable, but not essential.
