Pharmacy Technician dispensary Southampton General & Royal South Hants Hospitals (UHS)

We are seeking a full time Band 5 pharmacy technician to support pharmaceutical services rotating across both our hospital sites. The SGH site provides acute services to the hospital while the RSH provides services to both primary and secondary care sectors. Both are in dispensary-based environments.
In a challenging but rewarding post you will be at the forefront of an ever changing department, meeting the needs of different service users and further developing established services.
You will be based at each site for 6 months at a time providing a unique opportunity to gain skills in each area, networking and collaborating with staff and service users to meet the service demands.
Your daily duties will include coordinating the dispensary workflow, helping with workforce planning, checking prescriptions and training others. Some site specific duties will include for instance pre-screening of prescriptions, carrying out staff appraisals and providing a clozapine service.
You must be a GPhC registered pharmacy technician and hold (or currently undertaking) a national recognised Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification.
Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be working with a wide range of people including patients, doctors and our service users.
Occasional off site travelling may also be required.
We are committed to 7 day working and as part of this you will be expected to participate in the weekend, late night and bank holiday rotas.

Getting to Work
Application can be made for parking on site at UHS or through one of the park and ride schemes. This will be based on specific criteria to determine eligibility for site parking as this can be very limited. UHS encourages staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible. UHS is well connected through bus services to the city centre and other areas.
