Jaguar Land Rover has made a major investment in new testing capability to ensure future Powertrain development can take place and meet the business requirement to develop new and exciting products.
The Traction Battery Test Laboratory (BatLab) Team is part of Powertrain Test Operations (PTTO) within Product Development. The team maintains productive workflow from the HV Battery test facilities all electrical test activities delivering characterisation and performance data at the cell, module and pack level.
The Test Standards Lead Engineer role will focus on leading the development and delivery of optimised test routines to enable the efficient delivery of quality assured test data in support of the design verification of HV Traction Battery Systems. You’ll develop an expertise in the international regulations and standards that are applicable to Automotive Battery System Testing, interpret the requirements into test methods and facility specifications, advise and guide the test team and customers on the definition of suitable test procedures, and conduct strategic planning for future test capabilities and requirements.
You'll be working with a wide range of engineering customers, skilled test facility operators, suppliers, external agencies and organisations. You'll have responsibility for providing data and analysis to give assurance that our facility and output meet the requirements of established international standards for laboratory accreditation. This position is based at the Gaydon Engineering Centre but will require travel to other sites.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
You’ll be educated to a minimum of degree level in a Systems, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic or related field and demonstrate significant experience of interrogating and interpreting international standards along with technical expertise and significant experience of test facility operations and system under test preparation.
In addition, you’ll possess excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and oral), and presentation skills with strong problem-solving, analytical skills and decision making skills. You’ll be able to validate, prepare and read engineering documents.
Good computer literate, including Microsoft Office competency to produce plans, presentations, graphs, and process and Single Point Lesson (SPL) documents are essential, as is a valid driving licence and the ability to travel globally.
