We're looking for a Head of Development and Maintenance to lead our Capital Development and Maintenance strategy and provide complete management of our assets whilst maintaining great standards across our hostel network.
You'll work with internal and external stakeholders to provide leadership and direction relating to the optimisation of our asset portfolio. You will also lead a number of direct reports, supporting the development and leadership of the wider property team.
This role will be field based and will involve extensive travel throughout the network, completing overnight stays in the hostel network.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities include: * To lead and manage the Capital Development and Maintenance team to ensure effective delivery of the Property Strategy * Setting and managing the Capital and Revenue Budgets for the team. * Ensure compliance with financial controls and maximize value for money. * Ensure the development and management of relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure property businesses plan objectives are met. * Project management and delivery of acquired and major sites, ensuring the hostel openings meet the scheduled timeframe, operating standards and are within approved budgets * Responsibility for YHA's capital development & Asset Management procedures, approval documentation & reports to be submitted to the Executive & Board for approval. * Ensure the YHA procures building works, direct suppliers and consultants efficiently, in line with best practice, and financial regulations. * Be an effective ambassador for YHA. You will display a strong profile to ensure effective engagement, company visibility and influence with external stakeholders * Deputise for the Director of Property when required.
Required Experience: * MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor with at least 5 years PQE. * Evidence of the formulation and delivery of strategic development and maintenance objectives for a diverse property network * Proven ability of managing and leading teams in varied and significant development projects across a wide geographical area. * Proven experience of developing and leading programs of planned, responsive, and regular repair programme. * Evidence of project delivery with wider client or partner organisations. * ICT literate, including use of e-mail, word processing and spreadsheet applications. * Excellent communicator. Both orally and in writing. Recognises the importance of listening to and understanding the needs of others * Current full driving licence
