A fantastic opportunity has arisen in the Legal Indemnity team of the Corporate Specialty Risk department. The team are actively recruiting for a Legal Indemnity Underwriter. The role can be based in London or Norwich.
As a Trading Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting profitable business within a specific area, operating within agreed guidelines and authority levels. You will actively pursue opportunities to grow the book of work through new business, in line with team and GCS targets. You will help the team to achieve its targets and objectives.
You will make day-to-day underwriting decisions regarding the acceptance and rating of risks within detailed guidelines and agreed authority limits. You will learn to handle your own caseload, initially under supervision, underwriting new business and working within Aviva’s Brand Values. You will provide technical support and assistance to customers, dealing with all queries in line with your authority level. The Trading Underwriting will develop sustainable relationships to support new business growth as well as understand the Broker market, which is relevant for the role. You will be responsible for spotting and initiating opportunities for service and process improvements by acting on feedback from customers and share ideas with manager, peers and via team meetings. You will be proactive in the development of your own capability to enhance individual and team performance.
You’ll understand that working within our governance frameworks is fundamental to make sure we’re risk compliant as an organisation
- Good technical knowledge of core legal indemnity risks is an advantage.
- Experience of being responsible for own underwriting caseload within a regulatory environment, following due process and within set authority limits, is preferred.
- Ability to analyse complex information and draw out the relevant facts.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Sound product knowledge and market awareness.
- Well tuned communication skills in order to articulate technical issues and influence key contacts in the marketplace.
- Working knowledge of a range of standard computer software, e.g. Microsoft Office, email and ability to utilise same to enhance services.
