Open ended appointment 35 hours per week
The Department of Mechanical Engineering wishes to appoint a Stores Keeper to assist in the running of our busy Goods Inwards and Stores service located in the City & Guilds Building on our South Kensington Campus. Reporting to the Stores Manager you will be required to the support the needs of the staff for both the Mech Eng and Aeronautics departments, as well as students in their project work.
As well as the conventional goods receiving and despatching role, you will be required to assist in stock management, the placement of purchase orders, maintaining the computerised stock control system, recharging individual departmental accounts for goods issued, and in the general housekeeping & supervision of the Stores area.
Applicants will be required to have significant experience of working in a stores and goods inwards function within a technical environment, be organised and methodical with an aptitude for figures, and be computer literate. You should be able to communicate effectively, both verbally & by e-mail, with students, staff and suppliers, with possess a polite and helpful attitude.
