3 year fixed term contracts, full-time

These three posts offer an exceptional opportunity for qualified health professionals (e.g. clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, nurses, old age psychiatrists or geriatricians) interested in pursuing a career that combines clinical practice with research to undertake research training leading to a PhD. These full-time Clinical Research Fellowships are funded through an Alzheimer's Society Clinical Training Partnership grant aimed at building capacity in dementia care research. Each Fellow will focus on one of the following areas:
Post 1: Identifying and addressing difficulties with awareness in early-stage dementia. Supervisors: Professor Linda Clare and Dr Sharon Savage.
Post 2: Adjusting to the diagnosis of dementia. Supervisors: Dr Siobhan O'Dwyer, Rachael Litherland and Professor Linda Clare.
Post 3: Engagement and feasibility of an evidence-based activity toolkit for people with severe dementia living in care homes. Supervisors: Dr Anne Corbett, Dr Ingelin Testad and Dr Sharon Savage.

The Fellows will be appointed in the University of Exeter Medical School and will be part of the Centre for Research in Ageing and Cognitive Health (REACH), which hosts an Alzheimer's Society Centre of Excellence. The Alzheimer's Society Clinical Training Partnership, titled Intervention Development for Alzheimer's Clinical Training (INTERACT), will start in October 2018 under the overall guidance of Professor Linda Clare (Professor of Clinical Psychology of Ageing and Dementia) and Professor Clive Ballard (Pro Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Age Related Diseases). Fellows may undertake clinical sessions in dementia care up to 0.2FTE if they wish, arranged through Devon Partnership Trust.
