About the Café Customer Assistant role
Our customers are in for a real treat when they make their way to you and we don’t just mean the finest coffee and sandwiches on the high street.
We’ll be looking to you to make their visit to the Café extra special. Whether you are serving a bacon roll, a BLT sandwich or a jacket potato with chili, you'll be serving them in that unmistakable M&S way.
They’re popular places, our cafés, so you’ll be kept on your toes serving at the counter, checking orders and keeping the whole place looking its very best.
Of course, you’ll always have a winning smile for your customers, but in such a busy team it’s just as important to be charming and personable with your colleagues.
Plenty of energy and stamina will be important, as will a sharp eye for detail and a positive, proactive approach to getting things done.
Some previous experience is also necessary - a good track record working in a café, restaurant, bar or fast-food outlet is essential.
About the application process
The first thing you’ll need to do is complete an online assessment. This will involve a café based knowledge test as well as a customer service based situational judgement questionnaire.
If you’re successful, you’ll take part in a face-to-face assessment made up of café knowledge test, interview with a Line Manager and role play.
