We are looking for Business Operations Support Officers to provide administrative support within our Marine Offices. You will provide day to day support to Technical Managers and Surveyors ensuring paperwork and records are maintained appropriately.

Your duties will include:
Providing day to day support to the Technical Manager and Surveyors, including Surveyors operating remotely, ensuring paperwork and records are maintained and systems updated as necessary
Assisting with the day to day bookings of survey applications taking account of surveyor eligibility requirements and availability including assisting with booking of UK and Overseas travel arrangements
Inputting Shared Services platform activity for the Marine Office including timesheets, UK & Overseas Travel & Expenses claims, overtime and travel time claims
Providing administrative assistant to the Marine Office Surveyors in order to meet UK obligations in the inspection of foreign registered ships calling at UK ports
Maintaining the cash float and paperwork for banking of cash and cheques
Providing general advice to industry and public in accordance with MCA policies
You may be required to travel on official business within the UK including occasional overnight stays away from home. Please refer to the attached role profile for further details on the role.
Please note, our Colchester office is due to open in January 2018. Prior to this, there is an expectation that you will work out of another MCA location, such as Norwich/ Harwich or Orpington.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) implements the government's maritime safety policy in the United Kingdom and works to prevent the loss of life and occurrence of pollution on the coast and at sea.
The Directorate of Maritime Safety and Standards (DMSS) inspect and survey ships to ensure that they are meeting both UK and international safety, security and anti-pollution standards. Additionally, DMSS works closely with the Directorate of the United Kingdom Shipping Register (DUKSR) in providing certification to ships and seafarers, the registering of vessels on the UK flag and responding to pollution from shipping and offshore installations.
As a highly organised individual, you are able to manage your time appropriately and hold good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
You are computer literate, with experience of working with Microsoft Office software and have an understanding of financial management and control.
You will have an understanding of how the Government operates and a keen interest in the maritime industry.
It would be great if you have experience in an administrative role within a busy and varied office environment.
