This is a great opportunity to join a nationally-recognised telecommunications business as part of a new team, designed to support the team which provides services to UK businesses.
You will develop and operate statistical models that include throughput, service, productivity and regulatory compliance, to enable the achievement of sales and service targets.
Building and running models to test alternative scenarios, investigate issues and identify opportunities for improvement, you will draw conclusions about root causes of problems and potential outcomes of different scenarios.
Ultimately, you will be helping the business make decisions which take into account the complex dynamics of the environment, and plan for different possible outcomes of particular courses of action. As Junior Modelling Specialist, you will: Construct and operate statistical models and engage in Scenario Modelling to support decision-making and deliver benefits to the business Communicate the results of Scenario Modelling activity to various stakeholders Have detailed knowledge of available data sources across a number of domains, and be able to interrogate the database to obtain the data required Propose improvements in the way the business uses scenario modelling Develop the statistical modelling capability by developing tools, knowledge, data expertise and contacts You will need:
Very strong statistical modelling and data skills, and ability to analyse large quantities of data, extracting key ‘signals’, and translating these into insight Knowledge of SQL and databases Able to work as part of a team and to engage with stakeholders Knowledge of specialist software such as R, SAS, SPSS, Python advantageous Able to manage large quantities of data with attention to detail, accuracy, and speed Strong analytical capability – able to translate, simplify and distil complex data into business insights which drive action plans Educated to degree level in a quantitative subject such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Operational Research, Economics, or similar
