About the Role
In this SEMH - Learning Mentor, you will be working supporting a teacher to deliver lessons, this includes lesson planning and making resources when needed. Part of your role as SEMH - Learning Mentor will be to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 7 boy who can at times present with challenging and aggressive behaviours when he becomes upset. You will be expected to have a good working knowledge of safeguarding and as you become more confident within the classroom you will be expected to take the lead on delivering booster lessons to identified groups of learners.
Thanks to a high calibre team of teachers, excellent direction from the Senior Leadership Team and well-rounded pupils, this school has achieved 'Good' status from Ofsted. Pupils are aged between 4-18 and present with a range of complex needs, including social, emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties.
This post requires a SEMH - Learning Mentor who has the skills to create a bond with the pupils he works with and them support to get the best from each of them. You must be a career-minded graduate who has at least received a 2:1 in your degree and experience of working with children who present with complex needs and struggle with regulating their behaviours.
