Cornerstone is one of Scotland's largest charities with over 30 years experience providing care and support for adults and children with various support needs all over Scotland. Our aim is to make a real difference to the people we support by enabling them to enjoy a valued life.
We're looking for *female only Support Workers to join our team on a part time, permanent basis to provide a housing support / care at home service which offers one to one support to two ladies living in individual flats near Aberdeen city centre (20 and 30 hour contracts available). Both ladies have learning disabilities and mental health issues.
We use a person-centred approach following agreed guidelines and maintaining clear boundaries. Support includes meal planning and preparation, safe management of medication, attending appointments, support with finances & budgeting, shopping, household tasks, identifying and achieving goals, encouraging development of relationships, attending social activities. There will also be a requirement to provide some support with personal care. The ladies enjoy knitting, arts and crafts, cooking and baking, fingernail painting, and watching films amongst other things.
Staff lone work at all times and therefore need to be confident about using their initiative to make day to day decisions in line with policies and procedures.
For this specific vacancy, the successful applicant will be someone who has experience of supporting people with learning disabilities and mental health issues, able to demonstrate ability to lone work, cope with pressure, and manage behaviour that challenges. You will be committed, assertive, and resilient and recognise the importance of choice.
We are looking for people who like animals as one of our ladies owns a cat.
As a Support Worker, you will need to be flexible working to a rota to meet the needs of the people we support. The post will involve working evenings, weekends, public holidays, split shifts, short shifts, and sleep-overs on a rota basis. There will be a requirement to undertake tasks relating to key working people we support.

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and will be expected to join the Scottish Social Services Council register in 2017.
