An excellent opportunity has arisen suitably qualified and experienced Clinical psychologist/counselling psychologist/therapist's to join an expanding multi-disciplinary team in the Healthy Minds (IAPT) Intermediate therapy Service based in Oldham.
Oldham Healthy Minds Intermediate Service comprises of a multi-disciplinary team of practitioners and you would be joining Mental Health Practitioners, Clinical Psychologists Consultant Psychiatrist and Support workers. The Healthy Minds service currently provides psychological assessments and interventions to people with common mental health problems.
These posts are part of an expanding intermediate service development that will provide additional therapeutic services to people with a high level of complexity and chronicity, often with co-morbidity of issues. These cases will already have been through an IAPT step 2-3 treatment pathway and have further needs identified within the IAPT level of need. You will deliver and evaluate time-limited therapy to a defined case load of patients with highly complex mental health problems. There will also be an expectation that you will be involved in the service development, evaluation and the supervision of band 7 Psychologists/Psychotherapists will be a part of the role.
Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is committed to clinical and managerial supervision and on going CPD.
To provide a structured psychotherapy service to adults (16+) with complex/chronic common mental health problems in a Primary Care setting, who are referred to the Healthy Minds Service.
This will normally be individual psychotherapy but may also include group work where appropriate and requested by Line Manager. Therapy will be delivered in Health Centres and other community venues as directed by Line Manager.
To assess clients presenting with multiple and complex issues regarding suitability for psychotherapy e.g. treatment of depression, anxiety, phobias, childhood trauma (physical/sexual/emotional abuse), complex bereavement/loss issues, difficult personality traits.
To select appropriate therapeutic treatment and make decisions regarding referrals e.g. If another intervention is more appropriate, or referral requires secondary care intervention.
To assess risk of harm to client/self/others/property and take action as appropriate. This may involve breaching client confidentiality in interest of client or others safety e.g. Safeguarding Children or Adults, acts of terrorism, etc. This will be assessed in line with Primary Care Mental Health Services risk assessment policies.
To organise and manage a caseload and plan appropriate time-limited/brief interventions.
To maintain appropriate records according to Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust policies and Oldham Primary Care Mental Health Services protocols as directed by Line Manager e.g. databases
To inform referrer of outcome of assessment and provide
a summary of intervention at the end of the counselling contract.

All new starters to Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust who are appointed to a post which requires a Disclosure Barring Certificate check (DBS) will be recharged for the full cost of the check. Substantive staff can choose to spread the cost over their first three months’ salary or pay the full amount from their first months’ salary. Members to the Trust bank must repay the full amount from their first pay. The Trust encourages all staff and bank workers to register with the DBS update service at an annual cost of £13, for bank members this is obligatory. The cost of an enhanced DBS check is £44 and for a standard check £26, both attract an administration charge of £3.50.
