Band 7 Family Therapist (full time)
We are looking for professionals who want to join us on our journey to transform Healthy Young Minds- CAMHS services for children, young people and families. Our vision is for our local community to be well-equipped to support children and young people, the adults of tomorrow, to grow up with good emotional health and well-being. Where children, young people, families or professionals feel concerned for a child’s / young person’s mental health we want to be sure that they can get high quality advice and expertise about how to help, quickly and with minimum fuss. Where treatments are needed we will promote access to them and work with others to offer wider support within a community and school settings.
We will be working closely with our partners in education, children’s services and the 3rd sector to achieve the recently developed ambitious Local Transformation Plan for Healthy Young Minds -CAMHS services. This plan provides us with the guide and resources to begin delivering our vision of having Healthy Young Minds-CAMHS workers available in new ways, for example attached to every school in our area, embedded in our multi-agency assessment hub and working closely with children / young people’s universal and targeted services in each of our locality areas.
You will be joining a vibrant team of Healthy Young Minds – CAMHS Practitioners, Psychologists, and Psychiatrists. A key focus of the service leadership team will be implementing transformation and reducing waiting times whilst ensuring that values based, high quality care delivery is integral to all decision making.
The support, development and well-being of our workforce are the foundations on which we will grow our services to ensure children and young people get the best care. We have strong links with local universities and are active in the North West CYP IAPT Collaborative which allows access to training in CBT, IPT, Systemic Family Practice, Parenting and Service Leadership and Transformation. Healthy Young Minds - CAMHS are currently looking to recruit a qualified Family Therapist to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary teams on a permanent basis. The post-holder will contribute to the provision of assessments and offer family and systemic therapy interventions to young people and their families in Tameside & Glossp. The post-holder will contribute to the development and implementation of therapeutic treatment plans alongside other members of the team and will contribute to the assessment and management of risk.
You will be a qualified Family Therapist and will have direct, clinical involvement in, and extensive knowledge of the defined speciality as you will have responsibility for organising and delivering Family Therapy interventions for children, young people and their families accessing the Healthy Young Minds – CAMHS service
You will provide specialist knowledge, consultation and training to team members and will be involved in the development and delivery of Family Therapy across the directorate and Tameside & Glossop partner agencies as required.
You should have demonstrable and extensive experience of working systemically with children and young people who have mental health problems and of undertaking mental health assessments and interventions autonomously. Experience of assessing and managing risk is also vital.
You must have excellent communication skills, be flexible, self-motivated and have a proven track record in multi-agency working.

All new starters to Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust who are appointed to a post which requires a Disclosure Barring Certificate check (DBS) will be recharged for the full cost of the check. Substantive staff can choose to spread the cost over their first three months’ salary or pay the full amount from their first months’ salary. Members to the Trust bank must repay the full amount from their first pay. The Trust encourages all staff and bank workers to register with the DBS update service at an annual cost of £13, for bank members this is obligatory. The cost of an enhanced DBS check is £44 and for a standard check £26, both attract an administration charge of £3.50.
