We have an exciting opportunity for a publicist to join our hugely talented and pioneering publicity team at Penguin Random House Children’s as part of a maternity cover.
Penguin Random House Children’s is the UK’s no.1 children’s publisher and home to the most recognised children’s entertainment brands and authors. Our portfolio includes a prestigious list of authors such as Eric Carle, Allan Ahlberg, Shirley Hughes, Raymond Briggs, Roald Dahl, Jeff Kinney, RJ Palacio, Tom Fletcher, Jacqueline Wilson, Rick Riordan, John Green, Jennifer Niven and Emily Barr as well as amazing brands including Peppa Pig, Beatrix Potter and Dr Who.
Our award-winning PR team is seeking an outgoing, dynamic, proactive and extremely well-organised Publicity Manager to work across its outstanding portfolio of books and brands predominantly aimed at teen and primary audiences.
You will be responsible for planning and managing creative and innovative publicity campaigns that reach their target audience, on and offline. You will be used to liaising across multiple stake-holders internally and externally including editorial, publicity and sales teams as well as with authors, agents and licensors. You will be able to devise and organise show-stopping, sales-driving events, signings, schools tours and festival experiences that reach their audience.
Your day-to-day tasks will also include maintaining and developing excellent media contacts, actively researching the marketplace and readership, to ensure excellent awareness of trends and to identify target audiences, writing pitches and attending pitch meetings when required.
You will be a confident communicator, enthusiastic about presenting your ideas and representing the team both internally and externally. You will have the ability to remain calm under pressure and will be adept at managing multiple projects and deadlines and prioritising your time effectively in a busy results-driven environment. You will be a strong team player and also able to work autonomously using initiative.
We are looking for someone with publicity experience, a keen interest in commercial children’s and YA fiction and non-fiction, a hunger to work in a dynamic PR team, as well as excellent organisational, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
