Trainee Senior Laboratory Technician Jobs Vacancy at Company Odiham Jobs Details:
Our client, based in Odiham, is looking for a Trainee Senior Laboratory Technician responsible to the Operations Manager or nominee.
Normal working time arrangement: Initially the 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day, will be worked as a day shift, however the hours will be arranged to cover Saturday working and/or different shifts, on a rota basis, working up to 10:00 pm (weekdays only) - subject to operational requirements.
Other alternatively working time arrangements: Fixed-permanent shifts are also required, working 5:00 am to 1:30 pm, or 3:30 pm to 00:00 am (midnight).
Complying with all Company rules, policies, procedures, methods and codes of practice.
Wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment provided.
Maintaining quality control checks and good housekeeping practices in each area that they work.
Ensuring before use, laboratory equipment is calibrated and fit for purpose.
Preparation and testing samples of oil, lubricants, fuel etc. to enable results to be reviewed,
checked and then reported to the client in line with the requirements specified in the Quality
Control Manual. Also to assist with general laboratory housekeeping duties.
Training and instruction to carry out these functions will be provided.
To become part of a team and carry out the various duties as directed:
Preparation of samples.
Maintaining quality control checks.
Interpreting test results.
Checking test results and checking the reports prior to their despatch to the Clients.
Client liaison as required.
Maintaining good laboratory housekeeping practices in the laboratory.
Washing laboratory beakers/glassware.
Preparation of solvent and control & calibration samples.
Disposal of used oil samples.
When approved to, assist with the Training of staff.
A part of the work requires physical lifting and the wearing of a respirator (e.g. fetching /
carrying chemicals from the Chemical Store).

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
Degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline normally Chemistry.
Careful and methodical worker.
Able to work to meet deadlines.
Neat handwriting and a good standard of both Maths and written and
Able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and Clients.
Prepared to work outside the standard working hour week to ensure that laboratory operations are constantly supported.
Able to display initiative and see the laboratory as a whole for the team to succeed.
Familiar with and committed to Quality Assurance.
Experience in the oil industry would be an advantage.
Own transport required due to location.
This role would suit all technician levels ranging from opportunities operating laboratory equipment, to more senior chemists requiring technical backgrounds and commercial laboratory analytical experience.
