We're looking for a part-time Journalism Coordinator to join the BBC Look East regional news team.BBC Look East is one of the country’s most watched news programmes, covering the largest of the English Regions. We have two television centres in Cambridge and in Norwich, working closely with six local radio stations, and associated digital platforms as well as a full range of weekly programmes.
This job will be based in the Cambridge newsroom.
Primarily you will operate as a media manager shot-listing and archiving the programme as well as researching and restoring library material, but you will also act as a programme PA giving on-air counts for all TV output from Cambridge.
Cambridge has recently become its own region with a full half hour at 1830 and we want you to help us keep growing and improving. In this role will be line managed by the Operations Organiser as part of our dynamic, ambitious team.
We are looking for a Journalism Coordinator to join our busy newsroom. The successful applicant will be required to work in two roles.
As a Media Manager you will:
Shot-list old programmes for the digital archive.
Restore items to the server for new stories.
Monitor the server, keeping it organised and freeing up space.
As a Programme PA you will:
Give live programme timings for the gallery and presenter, counting out of packages and our opt junctions.
Work with the producer and journalists during the day, assisting with lower thirds and story production.
The Ideal Candidate
You should be highly motivated and enthusiastic about regional news in the East. You will have experience of working in a live broadcasting environment, and have demonstrable administration skills and knowledge of newsroom systems. You will be at ease with digital platforms and across the latest trends in social media.
You will be a self-starter who is proactive and a good, clear communicator. You will also have the ability to meet deadlines, prioritise a busy workload, operate under pressure and work effectively as part of a broadcast team. Experience working with a digital archiving/ library system is highly recommended.
