The Department for Education is recruiting for three Higher Executive Officers to work on the Academies Programme, which is an exciting and high profile area of work.
Academies Strategy Division sits at the heart of the academies programme that seeks to create more good and outstanding school places in England. The division takes a key role in directly supporting the National Schools Commissioner (NSC) and his 8 Regional Schools Commissioners (RSCs) across the country on all elements of the academies programme.
An exciting opportunity for three HEO posts has arisen in the Market Development and Strategic Communications team within Academies Strategy Division. These roles will span across three key work areas:
National Communications - Supporting the National Schools Commissioners (NSC) external communications and engagement activities. This will involve reviewing and updating the NSCs communications strategy to support the departments wider priorities. Leading on discrete communication projects such as drafting external written comms for publication, as well as providing logistical support for his key flagship events/conferences.
Regional Communications -Providing support to the eight Regional Schools Commissioners and their teams. This will involve: drafting communications plans and products for regional stakeholders, working with policy colleagues from across the Department to support policy delivery through communications, and evaluating communications activity.
Market Insights -Developing market insights to enhance understanding of our audiences/stakeholders to deliver targeted communications. This will involve analysing and interpreting data from a variety of sources, presenting research findings to support decision making and collaborating with colleagues across the Department to generate new insights and share knowledge.
Person specification The successful applicants will be expected to display the departmental competencies of the Higher Executive Officer grade and specifically be able to demonstrate:
Experience of communicating through a range of channels
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across a broad range of stakeholders and influence at senior levels
Strong analytical skills with strong attention to detail to make well informed decisions
Sound project management skills to lead and work flexibly across a range of projects.
Ability to see the bigger picture and feed wider insights to inform our comms strategy
Experience of working in a communications environment
Confident in using various forms of multimedia
Experience of events management/overseeing logistics
