The breast imaging unit based at Princess Anne Hospital, Southampton is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated Radiographer with a keen interest in breast imaging, wishing to train and specialise in Mammography, both in the symptomatic and screening setting.
The breast imaging unit is a busy, long established specialist centre fully equipped with digital mammography equipment and provides a full range of breast imaging investigations. These include, breast tomosynthesis, stereotactic breast biopsies along with the breast screening service which is also provided remotely through three mobile units.
We pride ourselves on being a teaching hospital and imaging reference centre providing great opportunities for training and development. University Hospital Southampton (UHS) was rated by staff in recent surveys in the top 5 acute NHS Trusts as one of the best placed to work.
The successful applicant will undertake in-house training alongside that provided through a National Training centre and will, on completion, gain the Postgraduate Award in Mammography.
You must have HCPC registration with a BSc in Radiography or the Diploma of the College of Radiographers and you must be willing to travel to all the sites used by the mobile screening vans and be flexible to the needs of the service.
As a trainee specialist radiographer in mammography you will complement our friendly and dedicated multidisciplinary team by seeking to provide high quality patient care. You will demonstrate a professional and caring nature, have excellent communication skills and should be flexible and able to travel between your base at Princess Anne Hospital and mobile screening sites located throughout Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.
Salary will initially be at Band 5 (£22,128- £28,746) until qualified when, following competency assessment, this will be raised to a Band 6 position.
