East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is pleased to offer the opportunity of an apprenticeship within our Corporate Governance department based at our hospital.

You will undertake an apprenticeship in Business and Administration and at the end of your placement will achieve the following qualifications:

NVQ Level 2 in Business and Administration

  • Functional Skills in Mathematics Level 1
  • Functional Skills in English Level 1
  • Functional Skills in Information Technology Level 1
  • Employer Rights and Responsibilities
The apprenticeship qualification is work-related and will relate specifically to your job role.

Salary Information:
The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training

The Corporate Governance Team/Company Secretariat is at the heart of the Trust’s corporate governance led by the Associate Director of Corporate Governance/Company Secretary who advises the Chairman and the Trust Board on their responsibilities under the rules and regulations to which they are subject and on how those responsibilities should be discharged, supporting the Chairman in ensuring that the Trust Board and its sub-committees function efficiently and effectively.

The Corporate Governance Team/Company Secretariat and the Corporate Governance Team Apprentice are key in ensuring good information flows within the Trust Board and its committees and between executive and senior management and Non-Executive Directors, as well as facilitating high levels of corporate governance compliance.

The team is also involved in developing and overseeing the systems that ensure that theTrust complies with all applicable codes, in addition to its legal and statutory requirements, monitoring changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment and taking action accordingly, overseeing the day-to-day administration of the organsiation, e.g. maintaining statutory books, including registers of directors and members, organising Board and sub-committee meetings and AGMs, preparing agendas and taking minutes.

Pending the successful completion of the apprenticeship period the candidate may be offered the opportunity to apply for a permanent post within the Corporate Governance team/Company Secretariat with a starting salary of at least £16,968.

Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata.
