- Care for the patient’s physical, psychological, social, spiritual, cultural and recreational needs within a defined programme of healthcare ensuring that the patient’s dignity is maintained at all times.
- Observe, report and record any changes, which may indicate an alteration in the patient’s wellbeing as well as any routine observations required.
- Communicate with patients, relatives and carers ensuring that professional boundaries are observed at all times.
Successful applicants will have:
- Care Certificate or completion of the Care Certificate within 6 months of start date.
- NVQ/ Diploma Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care.
- A minimum of 3 months’ experience within a mental health setting within the last 2 years.

Avocet Ward, Woodlands - 21 bed mixed adult acute ward
Avocet Ward is one of two adult acute care inpatient wards based in the Woodlands Unit. We provide medical reviews and treatment plans to ensure that our service users receive the best possible care. Ward staff will have the opportunity to work with acute patients with conditions such as Depression, Anxiety, Mania, Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Personality disorders and Adjustment disorders.
Lark Ward, Woodlands - 10 bed mixed PICU ward and 136 Suite
Lark Ward is a mixed sex, ten beds Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). We provide an age inclusive service for service users. Due to the complexity of cases and the acute needs of our patients, Lark ward has a higher patient to staff ratio, which together with our environment helps us to provide more intensive treatment. Working within this PICU, will provide you with an opportunity to work with some of the most complex mental health conditions, whilst supporting service users through the journey to return back to the community.
Poppy Ward, Woodlands - 21 bed mixed adult acute ward
Poppy Ward is one of two adult acute care inpatient wards based in the Woodlands Unit. We provide medical reviews and treatment plans to ensure that our service users receive the best possible care. Ward staff will have the opportunity to work with acute patients with conditions such as Depression, Anxiety, Mania, Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Personality disorders and Adjustment disorders.
Willows Ward, Woodlands - 21 beds mixed ward (10 bed for acute adult needs & 11 beds for service users with diagnosis of dementia)
Willows ward provides acute inpatient assessment and treatment for the older person with a variety of mental health problems. The ward is commissioned to provide 10 beds for service users with acute mental health needs which can include (but are not limited to) mood disorders, schizophrenia, adjustment disorders, anxiety, psychosis and personality disorder. 11 beds are for service users with a diagnosis of dementia.
Foxhall House is a 16 bedded unit providing assessment and treatment for people who have enduring mental illness and who have also come into contact with the criminal justice system.
Assessments including the use of risk screening tools such as the HCR 20 and SAPRof, involve all members of the multi-disciplinary team and fully incorporates the patient. Our primary focus is to assist people with their recovery using ‘My shared pathway’ care plans. These care plans are developed collaboratively with the patient and multi-disciplinary team, placing great emphasis on the individual assessment and treatment plan of patients using the recovery model.
Walker Close offers inpatient assessment and treatment for adults with a learning disability. Walker close offer a multi-disciplinary assessment of patient individual needs followed by a period of treatment to address those needs. Conditions treated include management of challenging behaviour and acute and chronic mental health conditions.
