37.5 hours, Fixed Term Temporary for up to twelve months covering maternity leave

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced nurses in Critical Care to undertake the role of MET team member. The primary aim of this posts are to be part the of the Critical care Outreach programme across the trust and part of the team of responders to medical emergency calls.

The post holders ill have a role on the Critical Care unit to maintain critical care skills and work across all acute hospital areas sharing those skills and empowering others to look after acutely ill patients. They will be responsible for following up patients that have stepped down from the Critical Care environment to ward areas and promoting high standards of acute patient care.

The successful post holders will have significant experience in a Critical Care environment and should have excellent interpersonal, team building and communication skills.

The Trust has a combined bed capacity of approximately 875 beds at Whiston and St Helens hospitals and provides a full range of acute in-patient, out-patient, day case and emergency services to the local communities of St Helens, Knowsley, Halton and Liverpool, extending to Cheshire, Merseyside, North Wales and the Isle of Man with the Regional Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit.

National surveys rank the Trust best in the NHS in the Patient-led Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE 2014) programme and CHKS Top Hospitals Patient Experience Award winners 2015. Best Acute NHS Trust in England (PLACE 2017)

The Trust was also top in the North West and 7th nationally for staff recommending the Trust as a place to work (Staff Friends and Family Test, NHS England 2014) and has also been shortlisted for HSJ Patient Safety Award (2015). In 2014 the Trust was named the top performing Trust in the North West, and 4th in the country for providing the best care and support to cancer patients.

The Trust has excellent management, robust systems and innovative processes all of which have underpinned a period of sustained and improved performance as it moves towards Foundation Trust status.

The post will be subject to an Enhanced DBS (with barred list for vulnerable adults) check.
