Consumer Product Communications Uber Jobs Vacancy at Uber London Jobs Details:
We’re changing the way people think about transportation. Not that long ago we were just an app to request premium black cars in a few metropolitan areas. Now we’re a part of the logistical fabric of more than 600 cities around the world. Whether it’s a ride, a sandwich, or a package, we use technology to give people what they want, when they want it.
For the people who drive with Uber, our app represents a flexible new way to earn money. For cities, we help strengthen local economies, improve access to transportation, and make streets safer.
And that’s just what we’re doing today. We’re thinking about the future, too. With teams working on autonomous trucking and self-driving cars, we’re in for the long haul. We’re reimagining how people and things move from one place to the next.
About this Role
The most successful consumer technology companies are brilliant storytellers who ensure that their products - as well as the benefits of these products - are central to every communication. Our team is responsible for telling Uber's story to a wide range of media and external audiences across the UK.
The Uber app is about much more than getting a safe and reliable ride from A to B - it's transforming how people get around cities, think about car ownership and connect to public transport; positively impacting the daily lives of people who value independent and flexible work; and aiming to tackle congestion and pollution by getting more people into fewer cars. Our small team works to ensure that these stories reach the media and the general public across the UK.
We’re looking for a Senior Communications Associate to join the UK comms team and lead our consumer & product PR. This person will be a creative storyteller with experience working with consumer, lifestyle and tech media across the UK. The role will be based in London.
What You’ll Do
Identify, create and pitch creative consumer stories about Uber and Uber Eats to a wide variety of media outlets; Create and deliver consumer campaigns that build the Uber brand across the UK; Manage an agency that works on pro-active Uber Eats consumer campaigns; Work cross-functionally with the UK marketing team to build and amplify initiatives and partnerships; Work with international product teams to find ways to tell our technology and innovation story to UK media and consumers; And support our broader communication efforts in more than 40 towns and cities across the UK.
What You’ll Need
To succeed you’ll need to be:
A self starter: Uber is a company of entrepreneurs and we want to work with people who enjoy building things from the bottom up. You’ll be used to working calmly under pressure in a rapidly changing environment. A creative thinker: You are able to analyse trends and identify creative ways to make Uber relevant. You can build campaigns from scratch and are able to work cross-functionally with various teams to create and amplify ideas. A great advocate: We’re looking for people who can distill complex ideas into simple but credible arguments. You are a strong writer and have the ability to tell stories - about our product and the ways we’re working to improve life for riders, drivers and cities. A campaigner: We succeed by putting together effective campaigns that make a broader case for the riders and drivers who use our app. You'll work together with our public policy team to find ways to creatively engage and inform the general public. A team player: Success at Uber depends on the ability to work cross-functionally and organise around shared goals. We're looking for someone who has experience working on complex projects to get stuff done.
Ideally you would have at least 6 years experience in communications/PR/journalism with a good knowledge of the UK media and relationships with key consumer journalists.
