We now have five years operational experience at Tredegar since the Trust acquired the property in 2012. Over this time, we’ve gained extensive knowledge of the building and it's needs which is more than £8 million worth of conservation work we now need to prioritise. Our visitor numbers have doubled, and we have ambitions plans to double them again over the next 10 years - to do this we need to make improvements to the visitor experience, commercial outlets, and infrastructure. In addition to this, we're looking to bring the community of Newport and SE Wales into everything that we do at Tredegar.

We couldn't achieve any of this without an outstanding Project Co-ordinator to manage our phased project plans and make sure we're all on track. That's where you come in!

PLEASE NOTE: This is a part-time role working 3 days a week (22.5 hours) until 28th February 2020.
What it's like to work here: Tredegar House has never been an ordinary household - nor is it an average National Trust property. For centuries, this Grade I listed 17th Century mansion was home to the flamboyant Morgan family who, with tales of giant birds’ nests, riotous parties, dark arts, war heroism and animal menageries, loved to impress and entertain their guests. In recent years, it has begun to flourish under the National Trust and we can see the signs of it playing a significant role in pursuing our local and country aspirations.

Situated in a very accessible location, 2 minutes off J28 of the M4, Tredegar House and Park is a surviving 90 acre fragment of a once majestic 50,000 acre estate, now enclosed on every side by commercial and residential urban development. Locals call it the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Newport and our ambition is to make it sparkle.

Since taking on the property from the local authority we have done extensive work to understand the significance and conservation needs of the property, as well as the current and potential audiences. We are now looking for an outstanding Project Coordinator who can assist the taking forward our planned growth and investment project. This is an exciting time to join our team and make a difference at a property which has huge strategic importance to the Trust.
What you'll be doing: Tredegar is set to be a very different National Trust property - one where the community of Newport and SE Wales are part of all that we do. It will be your role to support a range of internal stakeholders and external partners with their projects, keeping them on track, flagging any issues, and ensuring timely and efficient communication is delivered so we become a property that is truly “for everyone”.

With a number of different workstreams to support, you'll have a number of visions and phased plans to read and absorb and will be confident working with multiple stakeholders to monitor each project and its external funding.

As an advanced business systems user, you'll provide support and guidance to the project stakeholders through coaching and sharing with them best practice so they can use project systems to meet their goals. And central to your role, will be providing an efficient and effective business support service to facilitate the effective operation of the project and enable it to meet its objectives which may include the co-ordination of business meetings and other events as required.

With major projects underway (the emergency roof work, the old Laundry restoration for community use) and the next phase just at Gate 1, this is an incredibly exciting time to be involved at Tredegar House and Park.

Who we're looking forExperienced in working on fast paced projects, you’ll know how to support a project team to deliver results effectively. You’ll need to have;

Good people skills, enabling good working relationships

Experience of projects management and information systems

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to multi-task and to successfully handle multiple priorities

Stakeholder management with the ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with regional project stakeholders and central functions

The ability to work well both in a team and on your own initiative

Good IT skills (Microsoft Office)
