Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for a high calibre accountant to join their Finance Directorate who are towards excellence and Future Focused Focus level 3 accredited.
The Trust has a turnover of Â£470m and employs over 7,000 staff. This is a chance for the successful candidate to utilise personal and professional skills to their full extent in this challenging and fast moving environment.
We are looking to recruit a qualified band 7 or alternatively an individual in the last stages of their professional qualification on a band 6. The post holder will be a self-motivated Financial Accountant who can support the needs of the department and the Trust.
We are looking for an individual with the drive to succeed who can work and communicate effectively with finance and non finance staff across the Trust. The role is responsible for providing financial support and assistance to the Senior Financial Accountant on all aspects of financial accounting, including developing and maintaining financial processes and control systems. A thorough understanding of the balance sheet reconciliation process will be needed to ensure any risk of loss to the Trust is minimised.
The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of the Control team and will drive the month end, ensuring that figures are accurate and processes are robust.
A key aspect of the role will involve the review and input of feeder systems to ensure information is entered into the general ledger appropriately and ensure that all financial information is processed in accordance with procedures through completion of own work and through the coordination of the work of others.
The Financial Accountant will be responsible to ensure that all statutory/NHS accounts & returns represent a true and fair view and meet financial timescales and legal requirements, interpreting these where necessary.
They will also be responsible for charitable fund accounts and reports including providing accurate financial information to fund holders, producing monthly management accounts and the production of the statutory accounts and annual report.
The post holder will be a CCAB or CIMA member (or be in their latter stages of becoming a member) and be able to demonstrate professional credibility within their field.Â
The post requires exceptional communication skills with both finance and non-finance staff, coupled with a flexible approach to work and significant experience of working in a financial accounts environment. The post holder will also be capable of working under pressure, prioritising to meet tight deadlines and multi-tasking. Strong IT skills are also a key requirement.
The post will be based at the newly refurbished Finance Department at Lingmell House, Chorley which is located close to Chorley Town Centre. However the post holder will be required to work across site at both Chorley and Preston Hospital.
