The Psychological Therapist & Counselling Co-ordinator will work in the Manchester Integrated Drug & Alcohol Service as part of the clinical team.
The Psychological Therapist & Counselling Co-ordinator will work closely alongside other partner agencies such as health services, hospitals, GPs, service users’ families and significant others, and CGL’s volunteers and mentors.
To provide Assessment and Psychological therapy including CBT, BSFT, ACT and others for a range of Anxiety and Depression related problems within a coordinated package of care for drug and alcohol users.
To support the recruitment, supervision and support of volunteer counsellors
To work closely within the Integrated Service and other agencies locally to ensure that clients are referred appropriately and receive the appropriate intervention from the service.
Carry out clinical audits of service performance, including service user surveys and evaluations, and help to collate and disseminate the results for feedback
To work towards ensuring the achievement of outcomes/targets attached to the project’s funding.
Key requirements for the Psychological Therapist & Counselling Co-ordinator:
Qualified Counsellor or Counselling Psychologist (BACP, UKCP, BPS, FDAP)
Knowledge of working with individuals with drug and alcohol issues, offending and social care issues
Ability to manage own caseload
Knowledge of working in a service where agreed targets are in place and ability to demonstrate outcomes
Ability to write clear reports and letters to referrers
Ability to demonstrate an understanding of anxiety and depressing and how it may present in the workplace
Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and other common mental health problems
Ability to demonstrate an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates
Knowledge of substance misuse treatment, social care and the criminal justice system
Knowledge of Motivational Enhancement Therapy and brief solution focussed therapy
Knowledge of local services
