e are seeking to appoint a research associate to work on mixed-media heterogeneous network concentrating on small cell network design. The project is equally funded by both EPSRC and HW Communications Ltd.
This project aims to research on developing seamless integration of Visble Light Communications (VLC) and 60GHz mmWave mixed media multi-technology heterogeneous composition node (Femto Access Node) to achieve better performance, supporting co-operative networking architecture and 5G application requirements with industrial collaboration.
You will join Lancaster’s School of Computing and Communications, where your primary duty will be working closely with HW Communications Ltd on VLC and 60GHz Hardware development platform carrying out industrial research. You will also publish your work in journals/conferences and participate in business development activities assigned by the industrial sponsor. You will have the opportunity to work in both locations (Lancaster University and HW Communications Ltd) to carry out your assigned tasks during the project term.
We seek a candidate with industrial research background who has worked in communication systems area, especially focused on VLC and 60 GHz technology. As an industrial research project with strong commercialisation interests by the HW Communications Ltd the candidate requires technical and management skills including designing of communication products for compliance standards. You should hold a relevant degree (e.g. Electronic/Electrical, Communications Systems) in the research field of wireless communications. Strong skills in RF and optical communication systems are desirable.
This is a fixed term position, 0.8 fte for 12 months.
