Director of Mental Health and Learning Disability Care
Band 8d Salary Scale £67,247 to £83,258 per annum
Band 9 Salary Scale £79,415 to £100,431 per annum
Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust have formed a ground-breaking formal alliance to provide integrated and joined-up healthcare services across Somerset.

Collaborative work with primary and social care is at the heart of the alliance, to enable more seamless pathways and a better experience for patients and people using our services.
Both Trusts are rated ‘Good’ overall by the Care Quality Commission. They have a combined turnover approaching £500m, with 8,000 employees. Together, they have committed to making improvements in mental health services as a priority.
The Trusts are now seeking an experienced Director of Mental Health and Learning Disability Care to join this collaboration and work strategically to provide a great service to the Somerset health and care system.
In this role, you will further develop and lead implementation of the Trust’s mental health strategy and be at the forefront of transforming and modernising our mental health services across Somerset.
We want to deliver improved clinical outcomes and satisfaction for patients and service users through a person-centred approach to service provision and transformation. Co-production with service users will be central to this. Using innovation and quality improvement methodology, you will transform services and achieve the triple aim of improved mental and physical health, better care and lower cost.
You will have demonstrable evidence of:
- A clinical background with experience of a senior leadership role within mental health and/or learning disability services
- Successful management of complex organisation-wide change
- A positive value base that supports the empowerment of vulnerable people
- Enthusiasm, passion and energy that will enable you to lead and motivate our workforce to co-produce the service developments required
