Head of Business Conduct Compliance

As a Head of Business Conduct Compliance you will be responsible for delivering across the Global BAE Systems business strategy, policy and process designed to ensure compliance with key anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws and regulations
This role will provide you with the opportunity to lead a legal team, building key relationships across the business, with regulators and legislators.
Your main responsibilities as a Head of Business Conduct Compliance will involve:
Developing and delivering policy and process designed to ensure compliance by the whole BAE Systems Group (excluding the activities of BAE Systems Inc and its businesses) with all applicable anti-bribery and corruption laws and regulations.
Ensuring that appropriate policies are in place and utilised to manage the risks to the Company of associated persons, including in particular the Company’s engagement of Advisers and to directly oversee the Group’s process of appointment, management and payment of Advisers
To promulgate within the business a principles driven compliance culture in respect of the anti-corruption policies falling within the responsibility of the Business Conduct Compliance team including the Gifts and Hospitality, Conflict of Interest, Facilitation Payments, Advisers and Offset Policies
Leading the Business Conduct Compliance team to deliver to the businesses advice, training and guidance on compliance with applicable anti-bribery and corruptions laws and regulations, and BAE Systems internal compliance processes in order to drive an organisational understanding of and adherence to the business conduct compliance processes and standards
Overseeing group stakeholder relationships regarding business conduct compliance matters in particular with regulators, policymakers, industrial partners, customers and supply chain so as to proactively facilitate effective business conduct compliance and to manage associated risk
Identifying and where appropriate investigating potential breaches of policy, process or regulation and engage in appropriate mitigating actions or engagement arising therefrom including the identification and remediation of any systemic weaknesses
Providing world class subject matter expertise on business conduct matters to Group business lawyers and to provide dedicated legal and due diligence support in particular to export campaigns, M&A transactions, offset proposals and third party engagement.
Supporting the Chief Counsel Compliance & Regulation and the operating business groups in embedding principle-based compliance behaviours and to promote a culture based upon effective management of non-financial risk. To provide reporting and accounting to senior management as required.
Leading a team of directly reporting personnel, to ensure they are aware of their responsibilities and contributions, and to provide them with the direction, tools, training, support, career progression and processes they require undertaking their job
Representing the Company at a wide range of external events, including industry collaborations and before regulators and legislators to promote the interest of the Company and of UK and European industry as appropriate
Your skills and qualifications as a Head of Business Conduct Compliance
Senior qualified lawyer with suitable experience in a significant law firm or equivalent in house practice
Proven ability to assess and exercise judgment on complex issues
Anti-bribery and corruption compliance, including in particular experience with the UK Bribery Act, the US Foreign and Corrupt Practices Act and other equivalent legislation
Experience of delivering and continuing development of a complex compliance programme within a complex organisation, including risk based process and associated training
Conducting investigations or litigation in an international environment
Understanding and awareness of key BAE Systems policies and processes, operational framework and systems would be desirable
