The Role
The Manchester Pensions team has a vacancy for a full-time Administration Manager who will be part of a team of 60 staff who work on all aspects of Administration, Actuarial Consultancy and Investment services.
The Responsibilities
You will be an Administration Manager in the Manchester Administration team, which administers both Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension schemes, and report directly to the National Administration Manager.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the work of the team is accurate and you will monitor that all work is produced in a manner that meets the clients’ expectations and is in line with KPMG procedures.
You will be accountable for the financial management of administration clients and will report to the North management team on a monthly basis regarding client delivery, fees against budget and non-routine billing opportunities.
You will actively participate in the national administration managers’ meetings and provide input to the development of the administration procedures and best practise. Identifying efficiency initiatives and implementing these to further enhance client service delivery is essential. You will oversee the implementation of national initiatives and processes within the Manchester team.
You will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with existing Trustee clients.
Attending and presenting at client meetings will be required.
You will be responsible for calculating or checking the more technical cases and monitoring the team’s workflow and priorities. Strong communication, a positive attitude and good organisation skills are essential for this role.
In addition, you will also be responsible for the development and coaching of your team, including identifying individual training needs and dealing with performance issues. This will primarily be done by conducting formal performance appraisals.

The Individual
The ideal candidate is expected to have relevant experience in pension’s administration and is currently an administration manager in a consultancy based environment, an insurance company or in-house arrangement. Good sound technical knowledge is essential.
You should be experienced in all aspects of pension’s administration, and have some experience of people management. Knowledge of Profund, Word and Excel packages would also be advantageous.

Ideally, you should already be a qualified APMI or near completion of this qualification
