The Customer Services Group is part of the University Library Directorate, and its staff provides all frontline services in the Brynmor Jones Library. The Library attracts several thousand people every day and is at the heart of the academic life of the University. This important and demanding post involves continual interaction with the students, staff and external users of the Library. As a Customer Service Library Assistant, you will have a particular and very direct impact on the student experience, and need to be committed to providing an outstanding level of service in a very busy and complex environment.
Customer Services Library Assistants must have successful experience of working in a front-facing customer service environment, possess good IT skills, have the resilience and initiative to work in a demanding frontline role, and be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. You must be capable of handling and pushing book trolleys and reaching high and low bookshelves.
We want to give an inspirational service to our students every day of the week including the evenings and weekends, your shift will be 1 weekend day shift.
The Library is open 24/7 throughout most of the year, and is staffed from 8.30am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.30pm Saturday and Sunday.
