Cluster Trading Assistant Jobs Vacancy at Marks Spencer Paddington Jobs Details:

Job purpose

To support and deliver key trading area and category activities in relation to product development launches, quality management and competitor analysis.

Scope of the role

To underpin the work of the Product Development team

Key accountabilities and measures

  • To support the Product Development function and administrating systems as and where required to deliver product development documentation
  • To collaboratively organise and support gate meetings, product presentations, benchmarking and cross group product events as communicated by the cluster product developers
  • Drive improvements in ways of working to ensure efficient, effective use of resources and time in conjunction with PDM (Product Development Manager) and PM (Project Manager)
  • To report on external benchmarking, and press testing results to the food business

Specific role accountabilities

NPD (New Product Development) and Product Samples:

  • Preparation for internal food meetings
  • Reception and co-ordination of product samples for PD (Product Developer) – manage Food Centre product samples
  • Management of unrequired samples – sending to store, charity, or internal sales (alongside all Category TA’s)
  • Marketing liaison: co-ordinate product samples for TV & Photography shoots

Stage & Gate meetings:

  • Support PD’s on internal process – attending weekly meetings and compiling gate documents/presentations where needed
  • Ensure knowledge of product, range & NPD launches across all concepts
  • Working knowledge of the Plum System

Marketing liaison:

  • Alongside PD – photography brief writing, sample organisation & photoshoot attendance if and when required
  • Ordering / co-ordinating product samples for Press and the Design Studio
  • Co-ordinate mock-ups as required for events, photography etc.

Trends, Competitor research & Customer tasting panels:

  • Assist PD’s with benchmarking / competitor research / directional shopping sessions – collate into presentation format
  • Keep Product Development team up to date with competitor activity - new product launches, new service concepts, industry and trade shows.
  • Co-ordinate samples for NPD Customer Tasting Panels – collate into presentation format
  • Co-ordinate independent product testing, including weekly, quarterly and annual reporting under supervision from PDM
  • Co-ordinate response testing to Tried and Tested/Press articles, including weekly, quarterly and annual reporting under supervision from PDM
  • Support PDM, Head of Product with presentations, photography sourcing and product information as required

Events:

  • Preparation and mock-up assistance for Food Group Conferences, Forums and Reviews
  • Assist with PD lunches – as and when required
  • Setting up off-site displays for seasonal events – e.g. Press Shows, Conferences etc.

Day to day:

  • Work with TA (Trading Assistant) team to ensure product sample areas are kept in good order, products are placed into food sale as appropriate and storage areas are kept clean, tidy and well organised
  • Communication of sample arrival, location and storage to product developers
  • Support PD’s with Tastings, Gate meetings and other meetings as required – proactive planning of week’s events should be ensured
