The Logistics Finance team is a team of financial professionals that drives business performance by effectively business partnering across the Logistics team. The team partners key stakeholders to make informed and effective commercial decisions and maximise value creation.
In this role, you will provide financial support in the strategic development of the Distribution business, ensuring that the Distribution team has both a short and long term view of pertinent issues and any material risk and opportunities to the main business. You will coordinate and work closely with the site analysts in the finance function of Distribution to provide financial reports, period ends, budgets and forecasts as required. Also, support senior management within Distribution by providing financial information to assist in their decision making.
As Central Distribution Finance Analyst, your main responsibilities will include:
Business partner the Central Distribution management team, help prepare their budgets/forecasts, obtain mutual commitment and agreement and subsequently review performance deviations and advise of required future corrective actions.
Provide analytical support to the Distribution management team to assist them in making sound commercial business decisions.
Help evaluate tactical Distribution projects, understanding how each will impact on the growth of Sainsbury’s Argos and retrospectively ensure that the stated benefits of each project are delivered to the business.
Responsible for consolidating all of Distribution financials be it weekly Flash & KPI reporting, Budgets and forecasts or period end results.
Oversee the Period end process ensuring they are consistent with the company’s plans, incorporating P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow. Produce the periodic Balance Sheet reconciliations for the Central areas to the required standard and rigour.
Prepare the cash budget/forecast for Mainline Distribution and prepare/review the weekly direct cash for Mainline Distribution and ensure variances are appropriately timed or released.
Design structured, meaningful reports for both financial and statistical data and lead the team in developing a streamlined process for supplying this to improved quality standards and time deadlines.
Day to day management of the assistant distribution analyst ensuring that his/her development meets both changing departmental and organisational objectives and priorities.
Key interaction will be at Director, Senior Management and Junior levels throughout Distribution, Distribution Planning, OE and Finance Divisions where an ability to communicate, influence and challenge is essential. External contacts will be largely with our 3PL suppliers and external auditors.
Your skills & experience will include:
Qualified finance professional with relevant PQE experience – CIMA / ACCA.
Strong commercial acumen, curiosity beyond traditional finance boundaries and ability to understand key business drivers.
Ability to present complex information in a simplified manner.
Ability to exercise diplomacy in terms of potential areas of conflict and adapt their approach according to organisational requirements.
Strong Excel & Access skills with attention to detail.
Team player with good presentation and communication skills (both verbal & written)
Ability to positively and proactively engage key stakeholders to build credible relationships whilst retaining professional integrity.
