The Liaison Psychiatry is a seven day a week service providing 24 hour cover in A&E and up to 11pm to the wards. The service is based on the Northern General Hospital site and works across the age range.
The team provides acute assessment of Mental Health needs for patients referred from the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals including A&E, MAU’S and all other in-patient wards. Those referred will present often in a crisis situation with a wide range of mental health needs including self harm or thoughts of suicide. You will also be expected to work with people with dementia/Confusion/Delirium.
You should have experience of MDT working within an acute psychiatric setting and have knowledge of assessment and treatment focused interventions.
The successful candidate will possess excellent risk assessment and management skills together with an ability to make decisions and work autonomously whilst also being part of a multi disciplinary team.
A working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and how to access services and resources available in the community is essential.
Contribution to Service Development and Clinical Supervision structures are also an essential part of this role.
Support and training is offered to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust staff and will form part of this role. Networking and the ability to manage the interface between a number of service providers are also key to this role.
