Safeguarding and people protection is one of the three priority regulatory risk areas for the Commission the decisions made have high impact and are subject to high levels of public interest and scrutiny. We have made it clear that safeguarding - keeping all people a charity comes into contact with and has a duty of care over safe - should be a key governance priority for all charities, regardless of size, type or income. Working with the newly appointed Head of Unit, you will contribute to this key area of work by:
Ensuring the Commissions internal case working procedures and staff guidance on investigation and handling of safeguarding and people protection related matters reflect the current law and practice;
Ensuring the effective development of those case working procedures and policies and relevant MOUs on handling safeguarding and people protection matters, for example by identifying gaps and areas for further improvement
Carrying out case review audits to ensure consistency of handling and approach in our casework and the consistent application of and compliance with internal desk guidance and processes; and
Identifying training needs and designing, support and delivering specialist internal training on safeguarding and/or people protection matters.
