Are you interested in working for a world top 100 University? We have an exciting opportunity in the University of Sheffield’s
Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering for someone with a passion for robotics, intelligent automation
and Internet of Things (IoT) looking to use their skills to make an impact on the UK manufacturing industry.
This post provides a rare opportunity to contribute to research and development aimed at decentralising intelligence from
robots and machines to products and shop floors. The proposed research has potential to make a manufacturing system
more autonomous at lower costs. You will contribute with publications and develop demonstrations of the methods
developed. This post is funded by an Innovate UK project with GE, Global Robots and the University of Sheffield as partners.
You should hold a PhD (or be close to completion) in any relevant area of computer science or engineering, such as robotics
and automation, intelligent manufacturing, flexible/reconfigurable manufacturing, informated products, internet of things,
control systems, etc. You should also have experience in one or more of the following professional skill areas: C++/ROS for
robot programming, Internet of Things technologies, robot retrofitting, simulating a flexible production environment,
human-machine interaction techniques, MATLAB/Simulink for robotics or embedded systems, and embedded systems for
