We are seeking an Administrative Assistant - Volunteer Recruitment to join our team and support the day to day running of the NIHR IBD BioResource.
The NIHR IBD BioResource provides a cohort of patients with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis (collectively termed IBD) who have provided lifestyle and health information and biological samples (DNA, serum, plasma) and consented to be approached on the basis of their genotype and/or phenotype to participate in clinical research. The 25,000 IBD BioResource subjects will be recruited from hospital clinics UK-wide using the existing functional network of the UK IBD Genetics Consortium. It will include 1,000 subjects newly diagnosed with IBD. The IBD BioResource is an integral part of the NIHR BioResource for Translational Research and further details can be found at http://www.ibdbioresource.nihr.ac.uk/ and www.bioresource.nihr.ac.uk respectively.
As an Administrative Assistant, the role holder will provide administrative support to the process of enrolling patients into the NIHR IBD BioResource, including liaison with the patients and recruiting sites to obtain the relevant information such as consent forms, health and lifestyle questionnaires etc. The role holder will work closely with the NIHR IBD BioResource Research Coordinators, ensuring that all data is recorded accurately and processed in line with data protection regulations. In addition to the above, this position will also require responding to all standard queries (e.g. via email and telephone) about the process of joining the NIHR IBD BioResource and assist the Research Coordinator team in setting up and maintaining recruitment sites.
This appointment is full-time (36.5 hours per week). Candidates should be educated to at least A Level standard (or equivalent) with GCSE (or equivalent) Mathematics and English and be competent in Word processing, Excel spreadsheets and databases. This is a multi-faceted and varied role which requires a motivated and proactive individual with good verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and a great attention to detail. It will be an advantage if a candidate has had previous experience in a clerical/office post in a clinical setting, ideally acquired through working in Higher Education, the NHS or in a research/medical institution and be able to deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 years in the first instance.
