Looking for: an apprentice motor vehicle technician who wishes to take their level 2 apprenticeship with us.
Mini job spec: the role of Motor Vehicle Service & Repair Apprentice Technician is to repair vehicles including cars, vans, and light commercials.
They will complete routine maintenance and repairs to ensure that vehicles are running as they should be. Technicians need to have a good technical knowledge covering a wide range of vehicles, a high level of attention to detail and be able to work well with customers, maintaining a friendly and patient attitude.
Reports to: Workshop Manager
You will be involved in assisting with a full range of tasks including:
assisting with MOT testing
MOT repair work
repairs to petrol and diesel engines
repair of steering, suspension and brake systems
repairing of exhaust systems
repairing/replacing of electrical components
checking and replacing tyres
general tidying/cleaning of vehicles
general workshop duties
have good manual dexterity
being able to work alone and show initiative
have suitable levels of fitness
be able to follow instructions
have good communication skills
have excellent knowledge and an interest in motor technology
be able to use and understand vehicle diagnostic tools
ability to use small tools and large equipment (such as lifts) safely
be methodical and organised
have good concentration
be able to work within strict guidelines
During your time at Harper Motors you will be collating evidence of learning, be observed and receive training as to how we do things. This is averaged over a 24 month period and includes time spent at the beginning of the programme completing ‘sign-up’ & functional skills assessment. An assessor will visit you in the workplace every three to six weeks. You will attend Berkshire College of Agriculture on a day release programme.
