We are looking for a motivated, hard-working and trustworthy person who wants to learn about aspects of grounds and garden maintenance on both our commercial and private sites.
Groundtel was started by one individual 30 years ago and the company has expanded over the years. The owner is very passionate about inviting new talent into the industry and horticulture. Most of the team train whilst in the job and are encourage to continue their personal career development.
The current team have a strong work ethic, take pride in their work and really enjoy what they do, but are friendly and looking forward to welcoming a new apprentice to the business who will share these same values.
We like to work very closely with our clients so a polite nature is a must, although most client facing contact will come from the foreman.
We carry out all aspects of grounds maintenance including tractor mounted cylinder and rotary cutting of large areas, cutting, boxing and striping of all formal areas, strimming, blowing and hedge cutting by hand and tractor mounted flail. Litter picking is also carried out. A glyphosate based weedkiller is applied around the sites; hard surfaces, building surrounds, footpaths, fence lines and obstacles by qualified operatives. Good recognised horticulture practice is adhered to at all times when carrying out maintenance of the flower beds, shrubs and hedges.
Generally you will be working in teams of two to three people.
Job Purpose – To create and maintain grounds and gardens used by our commercial and private clients.

- Grass cutting
- Blowing (leaves etc)
- Shrub pruning
- Using machines safely
- Maintenance of machinery
- Fruit tree pruning
- Flower bed prep
- Flower bed and pots maintenance
- Path maintenance

During your time at Groundtel Ltd you will be collating evidence of learning, be observed and receive training as to how we do things. This is averaged over a 12 - 18 month period and includes time spent at the beginning of the programme completing ‘sign-up’ & functional skills assessment. An assessor will visit you in the work-place every four to eight weeks. You will attend Berkshire College of Agriculture on a day release programme.
