Legal Counsel Opportunities
Would you like to join at a very exciting time for the Air Sector? We currently have vacancies for Legal Counsels at our site in Warton or Samlesbury.
We are looking for a number of Legal Counsels to join the team supporting the European & International, US Programmes and Chief Operating Officer Businesses within the Air Sector. We have opportunities for both junior and senior lawyers in the Air legal team based both in the UK and overseas. Integral to the roles will be an element of short term or longer term mobility, nationally or internationally.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to be part of the Air Sector objectives; which will include further developments with unmanned aircraft, developing a new trainer aircraft, continuing the evolution and support of Typhoon through its life, having a highly skilled and diverse workforce and growing a sustainable international business
Your main responsibilities as a Legal Counsel will involve:
Providing or arranging the provision of proactive, high quality, business-focused legal advice and solutions in a timely manner
Managing the workload of the Counsels in the team, having regard to the relative priorities of the business and international campaigns at any given point in time
Developing the lawyers in the team through stretching projects, clear and honest feedback and training
Standing in for / represent the Chief Counsel in appropriate forums and with senior leaders as and when required
Supporting our export contracts and ensuring governance in establishing international partnerships
Understanding the commercial, political and economic issues affecting our business
Drafting, negotiating, agreeing, completing and supporting contractual arrangements with customers and partners which contribute to the development of the business
Ensuring that the Air business is compliant with all applicable legal requirements including health and safety, procurement law, export control and ethical business conduct
Participating from an early stage in disputes to assist in developing appropriate strategies for their effective resolution
Contributing to the wider BAE Systems Legal function as and when required
Keeping abreast of legal and business developments relevant to the business and providing training where necessary
Your skills and qualifications as a Legal Counsel:
UK qualified solicitors or barristers
Appropriate leading law firm and/or in-house experience
Experience of operating within a commercial environment
Sound knowledge of, and experience of dealing with, relevant areas of the law
Commercial Environment experience
Experience of working with/within corporate or PLC environment
