Riverside are currently recruiting a Support Worker for Engage Leeds on a FIxed and Flexi 6 month contract up to 22.5 hours per week.
Engage Leeds is a city-wide visiting housing support service. We are a consortium of 4 organisations commissioned by Leeds City Council to deliver a service to 1500 people across the City. Riverside are the partner who deliver the service in the South of the City. We have 3 key goals around Prevention, Sustainment and Integration with Riverside holding the specialism around Peer Support & Volunteering.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Housing Support Worker you will offer housing related support to the people who use our service. You will help empower people to make their own life choices and to access the services they need to improve both their housing situation and quality of life. You will be a key part of enabling people to achieve their aims and aspirations through a person centred support plan.
You will carry and be responsible for a caseload of people who have support needs that sit alongside their housing issues and this will vary from person to person. You will be part of a large service that offers particular specialisms within it including benefits and legal issues, dementia support and peer support and volunteering. There is a huge amount of experience and knowledge within the team itself.
The role can be challenging at times, but you will be supported by the team and the managers to offer a great experience for the people who use the service.
The role is based out of Ladybeck House and Bracken Court in Leeds and a large part of your day will entail meeting people either in their homes or other places in the community that benefits the work being done.
his Fixed and Flexi post offers up to 22.5 hours per week. Individuals wanting to work less than 22.5 hours per week are welcome to apply for the role - please ensure that the hours of interest are shown on your application.
All roles will require a flexi approach with regards to location; days or shift patterns, which will vary on a week by week basis. Fixed and Flexi roles will provide cover for schemes during planned and unplanned periods of absence; as a result there will be opportunities to work more hours subject to business needs and individual circumstances.
WHAT DO YOU NEED
Ideally, you'll already have experience of working with people in a housing/social care setting. If not, you will be given on the job training but will certainly have the initiative, empathy, interpersonal skills, resilience and sensitivity to appreciate how everyday housing issues impact on quality of life. You will share our passion to end homelessness and improve people's quality of life.
Commitment to providing a high quality service is also essential. You will have excellent communication, IT and interpersonal skills and the organisational skills required to deal with a large caseload and all that this entails.
