We are currently seeking applications for a Senior Policy Officer on Legislative Planning within the Environment and Forestry Directorate based in Edinburgh. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Scottish Ministers have been clear about their commitment to ensure that Scottish environmental standards are protected, maintained and enhanced, in the event that the UK exits the EU, and that we continue to ensure a long term, sustainable, future for Scotland’s agriculture. As part a major cross-cutting programme of work to enable us to continue to meet these commitments and deliver a fully functioning statute book should the UK exit the EU, you will be responsible for co-ordinating a programme of secondary legislation to address potential legislative deficiencies arising from EU exit across Environment & Forestry Directorate.
For jobs in Band B & C you must hold a minimum of 3 Highers or equivalent.

3. Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to provide clear and concise advice and briefing to Scottish Ministers.
4. Proven ability of managing numerous competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and ability to work flexibly.
