Oxford Wood Recycling (OWR) works with some of the most disadvantaged members of our community who would love to work, but face barriers to doing so. In this newly created and part-funded role the Employment and Development Worker will build on the organisation’s expertise and experience by developing a framework for volunteering and provide extra support with the goal of transforming the lives of our volunteers by moving them into employment. Key activities are:
coach and support volunteers with employment skills; identifying gaps in training or education.
construct a framework for benchmarking and monitoring volunteer develpment
provide support with benefits and welfare issues for volunteers and beneficairy employees.
build and maintain relationships with referral partners
identify and build links with local employers.
We would love to meet you if you are a resourceful, enthusiastic, motivated person; currently available and passionate about addressing social injustice. You will have the skills and experience of working in coaching, mentoring or employment/recruitment, particularly with people facing significant barriers to employment. You may have experience of working in a mental health environment or a specialist employment agency, where your knowledge of the benefit system would be an advantage.
The role is Fixed term for 6 months, with 4 month’s funding secured and 4 months funding applied for. The Trustees at OWR are very excited to have created this expanded role and if funding is secured up to 8 months, will core- fund the remaining 4 months, extending the post to 1 year, with a determination to seek longer term support.
